Leadville, 5 November 1884. Today the forces of law and order prevented a robbery by the infamous Le Petit gang. Frenchie, the notorious leader of the gang, was gunned down by Pastor Martin — a fervent supporter of the faith and town ordnances. Loot taken from the telegraph office was recovered and the gang will no longer plague the good citizens of Leadville.

The streets of Leadville seem quiet
However, Gus McQuire and Indian Joe are sneaking around the back alleys — weapons drawn and ready for action.
Gang leader Frenchie le Petit rushes to the back of the bank to secure a good firing position to cover his men so that they can break in through the back door.
But retribution comes swiftly in the form of Pastor Martin who leaps the fence to give Frenchie both barrels of his sawn-off shotgun followed by a sermon on the wicked ways of outlaws. Frenchie will no longer bother the good citizens of Leadville.
Further down the street, gangsters Dean Cooper and Billy Bishop provide covering fire to give time for Crazy Pete to break into the back of the telegraph office and pick up two sacks of loot. Travis Perkins and his deputy are wounded and pinned.
Crazy Pete secures the loot only to be engaged through the front window by Constable Frank Jenkins.
Meanwhile behind the bank Deputy Doug Denver joins Pastor Martin to see off Indian Joe and Gus McQuire. As Indian Joe retreats he is ambushed by Sgt Schmitt who sends him on to the happy hunting grounds.
Crazy Pete makes a run for it with the loot from the telegraph office but he is gunned down by PC Jenkins to join Frenchie and Indian Joe on Boot Hill. The rest of the gangsters leg it and so Law and Order returns to Leadville.
It was a fun game with two players and 6 men on each side using What a Cowboy rules. The rules were perhaps a little over-complicated for my liking but they gave a very good game.
Great right up and photos by the reporters from the Gazette! Yes, a fun game, although I think there may be another ruleset out there that will better match our needs for an element of unpredictability but with more streamlined mechanics. A Fistful of Lead is probably the next rules for us to try, so perhaps the streets of Leadville won’t remain peaceful for too long…
